Healthy Heart Feeding Like a Greek

Vehemently doctors and nutritionists advise a "Mediterranean diet" for their improvements to the healthy heart.


Here's what that means:

Eating whole foods, not processed. This is amply feed themselves with fruit and vegetables and in its original form - cheese with low fat cheese instead of the normal, for example. Restrict sweets, especially those packaged.


Do not be your main meat dish. Meat should only fill one quarter of your plate, or even less. The other quarter should be whole grains - like whole wheat bread, pasta or rice - and the remaining half should be fruits and vegetables. This means that for every 10 parts, up to 3 shall be for meat.


Limit red meat. Eat meat if you're a carnivore convinced one day yes, others not. Search your protein from sources like meat healthier fish, beans, lentils, chick peas, seeds and nuts (especially walnuts, are high in calories). Grill or saute the fish in a small amount of canola oil.


Drink a little red wine. Take one cup per day (only one) to combat oxidants and protect against blood clots. If you do not like or can not drink alcohol, you can substitute purple grape juice.


Swap butter for healthy oils. Use olive or canola oil in recipes for bread and use olive oil instead of butter. Many people use the mashed chickpeas and tahini (sesame seeds mixed) for use in bread.


Reduce use of salt. Use herbs and spices like coriander, dill, basil and mint to enhance the flavor of food.
